Does God speak to us? Can He be heard and understood? How does He speak? Those were my questions.  God talked to Abraham, who became the Father of Faith for Hebrews, Christians, Muslims . Does He talk to us?

Meandering is our experience of hearing and not hearing, misunderstanding the silence and instructions. We followed a calling based on the belief God spoke to us. For 30 plus years we were road people–concerts, seminars, conferences. We met many people and heard many stories.  I questioned what I should have done as a leader. manager and businessman. We experienced failure, doubt, self-disgust, disappointment and lack of knowledge. We also saw  Kingdom advance.

I swap our road stories with the Abrahamic family stories.  This is for pilgrims, adventurers, road people and those with dreams.

Twenty-plus years ago, my doctor suggested I get a heart stress test just to give us a marker. He didn’t know my sister had died of a silent heart attack just months before. I was healthy, active, busy with no symptoms except elevated cholesterol levels. The tests took me to heart bypass surgery.

Several months ago my wife underwent Open Heart surgery. Triple bypass. In the time leading to and then while she was in surgery, I re-read the 108 page Mosquito Park Secrets to see if the book held up after twenty-plus years.

Technology has changed. One chapter that involved our whole family is “Papa, Stretch Your Leg.” Most of my post-surgery pain was from the long leg incision to remove the vein used in my heart. Carole’s leg incision is about two inches long. My scar made Carole’s surgeon call it barbarian. My grandchildren reminded me every hour or so to “stretch your leg” to avoid blood clotting.

Mosquito Park Secrets does hold up. I’m still stretching my leg.

Hundreds of people bought the book when the ink was new. Within this past month a lady showed the book in a newspaper column unsolicited. She identified it as her favorite devotional and helpful book.
